International Focus

"In the first 6 months since launching the foundation we have had visits to our web site from people in 106 countries across 6 continents and al of the states of the USA. (last updated 13/12/07)"
Our aims in this section are initially:
1. To emphasise that bipolar disorder occurs internationally and is a common experience in most cultures by the sharing of the individual experiences of people in countries scattered across the globe - "the testimony project."
2. To point to national resources in individual countries around the world which will be of help in providing more locally orientated information and support.
3. To start to forge links between people affected by bipolar disorder across national boundaries so they, professionals and researchers may benefit and learn from each other's experiences.
4. To take an international dimension to help address issues to do with stigma and discrimination affecting people with bipolar disorder.
As a core part of our program, we will be developing international projects particularly focussing on supporting public and professional education about bipolar disorder.
